Before Your Appointment

Your complete document.Bring every page, not only the signature page. Complete all document information that does not require a signature and avoid blank or missing sections.
Acceptable government-issued photo identification.Examples include a passport, driver license, or government identification card that contains your photograph and signature and is not more than three years expired.
All required signers.Each person whose signature will be notarized must personally appear with acceptable identification.
Any required witnesses.If your document requires witnesses, bring the required qualified witnesses unless their availability has been confirmed with 1LnE in advance.
Instructions from the document recipient.If the document does not state which notarial act is required, ask the issuing agency, receiving party, or an attorney before your appointment. A non-attorney notary cannot choose the notarial act for you.
Wait to sign when possible.Some documents must be signed in the notary’s presence. If you are unsure, wait and sign at the appointment.
Important: The name on your identification should reasonably match the name shown on the document. If it does not, contact 1LnE before booking at [email protected] so we can determine whether the appointment can proceed.

Standard Notary Fee

Wisconsin permits a notary public to charge no more than $5 for most in-person notarial acts. Your total will be confirmed before the appointment begins. Multiple notarial certificates or acts may result in multiple charges.

A five-page document with one notarial certificate is typically one act—not five. The correct quantity will be confirmed before your appointment is completed.

Do I need identification?
Yes. Unless the notary personally knows you through dealings sufficient to establish your identity, bring satisfactory government-issued identification containing your photograph and signature. Wisconsin permits qualifying identification that is not more than three years expired.
Should I sign the document before I arrive?
Wait to sign when possible. Documents requiring a witnessed signature or oath must be signed in the notary’s presence. If the document requires an acknowledgment and was already signed, you must still personally appear and acknowledge the signature.
Can 1LnE tell me which notarial certificate I need?
If the document does not already specify the required act, you must obtain that instruction from the document issuer, recipient, or an attorney. A non-attorney notary cannot select the legal act or provide legal advice.
Can you notarize a copy of my birth certificate?
No. Certified copies of Wisconsin vital records—including birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates—must come from the appropriate state or local records custodian. A notary may copy-certify certain eligible records held by an individual only when the original is presented and copied by the notary.
What if my document requires witnesses?
Bring every required qualified witness unless you have confirmed witness availability with 1LnE before the appointment. The notary should not automatically be counted as a document witness.
Is an appointment a guarantee my document will be notarized?
No. The notary must review the document and verify identity, personal appearance, willingness, awareness, and the required notarial act. Service may be declined when legal or practical requirements are not met.
Do you provide remote online notarization?
This booking page is for in-person appointments at the 1LnE office on South Linwood Avenue only. Remote online notarization is not currently offered through this service.
